AutoCAD Civil 3D Tech Support - Error: "Angle is out of range" When Importing Fieldbook File

Published date: 2010-Jan-25
ID: TS14436128

Applies to:
AutoCAD® Civil 2010
AutoCAD® Civil 2009
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2010
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2009
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2008
Autodesk® Civil 3D® 2007

Issue

When importing a specific Fieldbook file (.fbk), the user recieves the following message:

Error: Angle is out of range.

Solution

The error message is caused by a line in the Fieldbook file that is in an incorrect format. Specifically, this is caused by the angle shown with 60 seconds, rather than having it apply to an additional minute. For example:

F1 VA 11 356.4560

This value is incorrect, and should be shown as:

F1 VA 11 356.4600

This is a setting that is in either the Data Collector, or the software used to convert the file to .fbk format.

AutoCAD Civil 3D Tech Support - Alignment Created From Closed Polyline Creates Parcel

Published date: 2010-Jan-25
ID: TS14436149

Applies to:
AutoCAD® Civil 2010

AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2010
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2009
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2008
Autodesk® Civil 3D® 2007

Issue:

When a user creates an Alignment from a closed Polyline, it will automatically create a Parcel when the Alignment is moved to a Site.

Solution:

This behavior is as designed. Anytime a closed Alignment is put on a Site, it will create a Parcel in the middle. The Parcel will stay with that Alignment, regardless of it is moved to a new Site.

If a Parcel is not desired, the user can either keep the Alignment off of a site (i.e.: ), or change the Parcel Style and Labels to a Style that will not display.

AutoCAD Civil 3D Tech Support - How To Delete Individual Code Labels in Section View

Published date: 2010-Jan-25
ID: TS14436212

Applies to:
AutoCAD® Civil 2010
AutoCAD® Civil 2009
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2010
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2009
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2008
Autodesk® Civil 3D® 2007

Issue:

User would like to be able to delete an individual Link Label in a Section View.

Solution:

The Label for the Link is automatically created, based upon the criteria set in Code Set Style. In the image below, you can see that all of the Links are labeled.

In this example, the vertical Link Labels are overlapping, making them unreadable. This could be shut off via the Code Set Style, but this would apply to all Section Views associated with that Code Set Style. If the user would like to shut of an individual Label, this can be done by following the steps below:

  1. Right-click on the Label that needs to be removed
  2. Select "Label Properties" in the submenu
  3. Change the Visibility to False

Applies to:
AutoCAD® Civil 2010
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2010

Issue:

You have profile label that shows fine in Model Space but is rotated 90 degrees in Paper space’s viewport.

Solution:

One of the features of Civil 3D 2010 is the ability to add staggering to the profile view labels to avoid them from being clustered and illegible. The issue can be resolved by removing staggering from Profile View.

1. Right-click on the label and choose Edit Label to open Profile labels dialog

2. There you should be able to see if staggering is applied to one of the labels

3. Apply changes and confirm that label shows identical in Model space as well as in Viewport

Autodesk® Civil 3D® Civil Design Companion 2007
Autodesk® Civil 3D® Civil Design Companion 2006

Issue:

You have a linetype that shows properly in paper space but not correct in Model space.

Solution:

There are two system variables introduced in AutoCAD 2008 version: MSLTSCALE and PSLTSCALE

MSLTSCALE

0 = Linetypes displayed on the Model tab are not scaled by the annotation scale

1 = Linetypes displayed on the Model tab are scaled by the annotation scale

PSLTSCALE

0 = No special linetype scaling

1 = Viewport scaling governs linetype scaling

For instance, if you have a hidden line that shows fine in Model space and in Paper space by setting MSLTSCALE to 1 program will re-generate the linetype by the annotative scale after REGEN. So you will end up seeing Model space line as shown in the picture 1 and Paper space will look like in the image 2

Issue:

All points imported from metric template and with metric settings still display points in feet. In the Edit Drawing Settings dialog box, you have confirmed that the drawing units are set to meters, ambient tab shows all meter, kilometer/hr, square meter, etc. but your point label still shows up in feet.

Solution:

This could happen if the label style used for displaying point label is set to be imperial and as such it converts metric elevation in feet. To set it up correctly:

1. Right-click on point label and choose Properties and select the style to edit

2. In Label Style Composer go to layout tab and select Point Elevation for Component name

3. Click on Contents to go into Text Component Editor. You may see that Unit is set to Foot

4. To resolve all you need to do is to change this value to be in meters.

Tech Tip: AutoCAD Civil 3D & AutoCAD Civil Services & Support - Prior Version Alignment Spiral Hotfix

Published date: 2010-Jan-19
ID: DL14404551

Applies to:
AutoCAD® Civil 3D® 2010

After installing AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010 Update 2, if you open a drawing created in a previous version of Civil 3D, which contains an alignment with a spiral curve, you may see the alignment change. This Hotfix will resolve this issue and will correct the alignment geometry.

Note: There are two different hotfixes for this issue. One is for users who have only Update 2 installed. The other is for users who have both Update 2 AND the Subscription Advantage Pack installed. If you are unsure which is appropriate for your application, please follow the instructions below to find out:

  1. In Windows Explorer, browse to the Program Files directory:
    • Windows 32 bit – C:\Program Files\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010
    • Windows 64 bit – C:\Program Files (x86)\AutoCAD Civil 3D 2010
  2. Find AeccMath.dll in the list, right-click and select Properties
  3. Note the version of this file:
    • Windows Vista or Windows 7 – under the Details tab
    • Windows XP – under the Version tab
  4. Rename the existing AeccMath.dll file to AeccMath.dll.old
  5. Place the appropriate file below in your Program Files directory:
    • Users running ONLY Update 2 (existing version 7.0.1387.0):
      aeccmath.dll (dll - 768Kb)
    • Users running both Update 2 AND the Subscription Advantage Pack (existing version 7.0.2173.0):
      aeccmath.dll (dll - 768Kb)

If after applying this hotfix with only Update 2 installed you then decide to apply the Subscription Advantage Pack, you will need to do the following:

  1. Rename the AeccMath.dll file to AeccMath.dll.Update2
  2. Rename AeccMath.dll.old to AeccMath.dll
  3. Apply the Subscription Advantage Pack
  4. Rename AeccMath.dll to AeccMath.dll.old
  5. Download the AeccMath.dll which targets the Subscription Advantage Pack (above)
  6. Place the file in the Program Files directory

For Update 2, if the version of AeccMath.dll is 7.0.1390.0, you already have this fix applied.

For Update 2 AND the Subscription Advantage Pack, if the version of AeccMath.dll is 7.0.2180.0, you already have this fix applied.
